Why Did It Have to Happen to Me?

Inspirational Epilepsy Quote

It was a normal school day; learning new things, talking with friends, watching movies etc. I couldn't wait to get home and play some basketball with my neighbors, but plans changed in a flash. I was walking out of the classroom into the hallway when it happened; my first seizure struck. Before I knew it I was in the back of an ambulance with the EMT and my teacher. Once I arrived at the hospital, it was like being in a NASCAR race things happening so fast. Medical tests, questionnaires, phone calls, and of course my parents at my side. Even though I was young, I wanted to know why this had to happen to me.

I shrugged this seizure off thinking it was a one-time deal; I was wrong. On the last day of school, I was outside with my classmates having a great time until I felt my aura come. We got back into the classroom and I still felt "weird." My friend walked me to the nurse's office, and I barely made it to the bed before I had my second seizure. My dad came and took me home, having to miss the rest of the last day of school (the best day of school all year!). This is when I realized that seizures would be a part of my life moving forward.

To answer my previous question; "why did this have to happen to me?" I know exactly why it happened to me, and to all of the people battling epilepsy or different disabilities. I was given a battle that only a specific number of people can fight. Yes, seizures can be scary, but without them I wouldn't be writing this blog helping and inspiring others with epilepsy.
